Printer Maintenance

Printers are a big part of business, and it's only when they have issues that you realise how much you rely on them. Preventative maintenance ensures that your equipment remains operational with a minimum of paper jams and other issues, and keeps costs down by catching potential issues before they become an expensive problem.

What does maintenance include?

For business printing most models have several components that are designed to be replaced after so many pages are printed. These include parts like the pickup rollers that lift paper from the tray, the fuser that bonds toner (in the case of laser printers) to the paper, and other parts that experience significant wear during printing. By replacing these parts at the recommended page intervals you virtually eliminate issues with paper jams and poor quality prints, and rejuventate your printer for further years of reliability. A maintenance visit also includes a thorough overall inspection and cleaning of the printer.

Do all printers need maintenance?

For printers that get a lot of use regular maintenance is a good idea to keep costs and issues down, however not all printers are designed with replaceable components and thus do not require maintenance to the same level as higher end printers. These models are generally entry level (under $300), so are not designed for high volume printing. If you find you are having issues with paper jams or printing is problematic they can usually be repaired without issue however.
