What is a Web Application?

Instead of existing as a program installed on your computer, a Web Application is accessed by accessing a website in an internet browser. Disadvantages

• Not all business tasks fit the web based model
• If no internet connection is avaliable access is limited or nil
• More security risks arise
• While scalability is easy it must be planned to ensure performance does not degrade as more users are added
